May 2013: Maine Lab Rescue:

About Us

Maine Lab Rescue was founded in May, 2012. We are a foster based, all volunteer  organization. Rescue efforts are focused on saving Labs and Lab mixes from high-kill shelters in the south.  While we focus on the Labrador Retriever, we also rescue other mixed breed dogs/puppies and cats/kittens (they’re our Lab wannabes!), we’re here to help where we can.

As a foster based rescue, our dogs and cats looking for homes reside with families rather than in a shelter or kennel. Fosters are the backbone of any rescue organization, they open their homes, provide love, care and attention to animals in need. If you are interested in joining our team of dedicated fosters, please email [email protected].

Maine Lab Rescue is a private, mostly volunteer rescue. We do not receive funding from federal, state or local governments. Sponsorships of pull fees, vetting and transportation are always welcome. As a private organization, contributions made to Maine Lab Rescue are not tax deductible.

VALUES

At the Coastal Humane Society, we believe in the special bond between people and their animal friends.  An animal is not merely a “pet.”  It is a companion.  A best friend.  A loyal, loving pal.

Their hearts do not judge. In their eyes, we are perfect just the way we are.  They always want to make us feel good – by greeting us with wagging tails, giving a friendly lick on the face, or snuggling up to us when we feel sad.  Animals warm our hearts and our lives.   The bond between person and animal is made of loyalty, compassion, respect, and unconditional love.

We strive to enhance that bond in all of our endeavors here at the Coastal Humane Society.

MISSION

  • To assist by all means the prevention of cruelty to animals

Not every pup is lucky enough to have a forever home.  That's where we come in.   Lucky Pup Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established for the purpose of re-homing dogs in need. We believe that all dogs deserve a safe and happy forever home regardless of breed or where they are from.
  • We are based in southern Maine, but we do not have a physical shelter
  • Our dogs are brought to safety and cared for in foster families until their forever family is found
  • We've helped find permanent homes for more than 900 dogs since 2008
  • We work with local, New England dogs and those from our overcrowded partner shelters and rescues in the southern United States

Responsible Pet Care is a no-kill, non-profit shelter and adoption center for cats and dogs located in Norway, Maine. We provide a safe and comfortable environment for cats that have been abandoned or surrendered by their owners. We also provide a place for a lost dog to rest until his owner comes for him.

All of the cats and kittens in our care need permanent homes and are available for adoption. Most of the dogs will be reunited with their owners; but some will require new homes.
